Bruce Haack – The Electric Lucifer” is a revolutionary album by Bruce Haack, a pioneer of electronic music, released in 1970. This opus is a unique sonic journey that fuses experimental electronic music, psychedelic rock and spiritual themes. Haack, a genius Canadian inventor and visionary musician, has created a captivating sonic universe through this album, exploring avant-garde ideas and transcendental concepts.

Bruce Haack was a pioneer in the use of homemade electronic instruments, and this is reflected throughout the album. “The Electric Lucifer” is peppered with unique sounds created from his inventions, including the famous “Farad“, a vocoder he designed himself.

The Electric Lucifer” is an anti-war conceptual work that explores the battle between good and evil, between light and darkness. Haack uses electronic technology to bring these abstract concepts to life, creating soundscapes that evoke spiritual experience.

In the song “Requiem” from the album “The Electric Lucifer”, Bruce Haack addresses the concept of “powerlove” to represent a positive and transcendent force, a kind of powerful love that triumphs over forces negative.

Another fascinating aspect of the album is its treatment of vocals. Bruce Haack experimented with electronic vocal modification long before it became common in popular music. The lyrics, often esoteric, are delivered with an intensity which reinforces the mystical aspect of the album.

The album’s initial reception was mixed, as it departed significantly from the musical conventions of the time. However, over time, “The Electric Lucifer” gained cult status and is now hailed as a groundbreaking work that helped define the trajectory of electronic music.
